The two most common types of fittings found in the Russell line are the AN 37ƒ style and the fitting style with pipe threads on it.  A few specialized Russell fittings utilize the inverted flare.

More Plumbing Tips:

Question: When do I use TeflonÆ Tape?
Only when working with a AN Fitting that has pipe thread on one end.  Put Teflon on the pipe thread only.  It acts as a lubricant and sealer.  Caution: Never put tape on the 37ƒ end.  It will cause the fitting to tighten before it makes contact with the hose end.

Question: When do I use an O-Ring?
O-rings are typically used on straight threads that do not have a flare sealing surface.  An example would be a Russell Straight Thread Plug or a Russell Flare Union Dry Sump Adapter.  Caution:   Never put an O-Ring on the end of the fitting that you are going to attach to the hose end.
