THE 3 BASIC ELEMENTS OF PLUMBING

In order to plumb your vehicle with a minimum amount of time, effort and money, you should know the basics about hose, hose ends and adapter fittings. Hose diameters are assigned AN numbers. Using your automotive hose size, choose from the chart below to find the AN equivalent for hose, hose ends and adapter fittings.
For example: a 3/8" standard hose equals -6 AN.

The line drawings below depict actual sizes of the various common AN thread sizes by dash number. Lay your fitting over the appropriate drawing to determine what size fitting you have.

PIPE THREAD SIZE CHART

Use the diagram below to find pipe thread size. Place fitting against base line; read fitting size where it intersects the vertical line.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE PRO-SYSTEM 1 FITTINGS

1. Wrap tape tightly around hose where cut is to be made.
2. Using either a cut off wheel or fine tooth hack saw, cut hose to desired length.
3. With a sharp knife, trim back the clear coating approx. 1" from end of hose.
4. Disassemble the 3-piece adapter fitting.
5. Slide the tapered nut (taper first) over the hose.
6. Using a small screw driver, separate and open up the stainless braid from the PTFE inner liner.
7. Slip the brass ferrule (tapered end towards the hose) over the PTFE inner liner.
8. Lubricate barb with brake fluid and insert the barbed end of the fitting into the PTFE tube.
9. Draw up the tapered nut and tighten down.

Note: To re-use Compression fittings, you must replace the ferrule. Be sure to choose the correct ferrule for your fitting.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE PRO-SYSTEM 2 FITTINGS

1. Cut hose to desired length using a knife.
2. Disassemble the 3-piece adapter fitting.
3. Slide the tapered end (taper first) onto the hose.
4. Slide the brass ferrule, with tapered end going towards the end of the hose.
5. Push hose into the body until it bottoms out, then bring the tapered nut forward and tighten down.

Note: To re-use Compression fittings, you need a 5/16" Replacement Ferrule #R49009.
